Fresh instruction towards LAN:
Site survey by vendor (CMC Ltd. Chennai) for mapping cable routing for LAN, location of UPS, DGset, appointment of nodal officers (addl.) responsibilities of nodal officers, capturing of quantum of users as thin clients, seating arrangement of thin client users, communication room restrictions, utility room facilities, taking of inventory by vendor, acknowledgment of site deficiency, bar on shifting of offices, incurring cost of broadband for ranges and site preparation.

Site survey done on 28-7-2008 - site reviewed by CMC and server/communication room at Hqrs. not found suitable - instructed for shifting to annexe building for better civil/elect. infrastructure - cost to be borne by commtt. - work to be estimated shortly. Site survey is over for Cuddalore & local Divisions.

LAN implementation instructions  - Appointment of nodal officers for LAN same as WAN - consumable like diesel, printer cartridges to be borne locally - Ranges to be provided with broadband - inventory of existing assets to be prepared and issued to PWC - Creation of 3 data centres & maintaining local IT infra for 5 years - System Integrator TCS & Data warehouse by WIPRO will maintain for 5 years - Investment protection policy for retention of existing assets purchased up to 2004 and re-deployment of those purchased after 2004 as thin-clients. DGsets/UPS to be provided by project. - Vendor to arrange proper earthing - rooms to be identified - All equipments on WAN-LAN not to be under dual control of project vendor and local AMC vendor -Nodal officers to provide lay-out of buildings for estimate of cable laying work and materials - computers on project would accommodate both ACES software and other office software - Ranges of 3 or more to be on LAN with broad bad, others to have only broadband - Details of quantity of thin clients for each Commtt., Division & Range - First phase in all metros and six months later in other towns - separate engineer for places with 25 or more thin clients - services of help desk, support, applications, etc., - call resolve time lines -
